MAUI STRONG

On August 8, 2023 the Island of Maui experienced the largest natural disaster to happen in Hawaiʻi. The wildfire that took over the entire historic town of Lāhainā still affects our lāhui today and we continue to kākoʻo those affected, even from the continent. For more information on how to help, feel free to review the sources below. We will also update this page as the needs of Maui change.

ʻAʻohe hana nui ke ʻalu ʻia - no task is too big when done together by all

During the month of August and September, over 150 volunteers from all of Oregon and SW Washington came together to raise almost $20,ooo in monetary donations and over $50,000 worth of physical donations for those affect by the Lāhainā fires. Since then we have been in contact with the Maui Fire Department and the Lāhainā Hawaiian Civic Club so that we can continue to send our collections to Maui. As of right now we are still collecting MONETARY donations for our ʻohana back home.

How can I make a monetary donation?

Feel free to stop by at the AlōHa Resource & Community Center to drop off any gift card donations! We currently only accept gift cards to Target, Safeway, and Costco!

Maui Strong Shirts

Through SWAG North West, a local print shop based in Portland, we were able to receive a large donation of shirts. They are available for purchase and 100% of the proceeds will go directly to the Maui Fire Department and/or the Lāhainā Civic Club. Shirts are $10 for one or $15 for two!
