Mōhala Youth Fellowship

The Mōhala Fellowship empowers youth to become leaders and organizers grounded in Native Hawaiian traditions and values. Through mentorship, training, and hands-on experience, fellows build advocacy skills, strengthen cultural identity, and lead projects that uplift community wellbeing and bring cultural perspectives into decision-making spaces.

June 12, 10:30A - 3:30P: Training and Preparation
June 15-19, 8:30A - 4:30P: Nā Kamaliʻi (Ages 10-13)
June 22-26, 8:30A-4:30P: Nā Pokiʻi (Ages 5-10)
ʻŌpio Alakaʻi are peer leaders who serve as trusted mentors and supporters for their fellow haumāna (students) throughout the Hāloa Youth Education Programs. Their kuleana (responsibility) is to provide thoughtful kākoʻo (support) during times of stress, promote a safe and inclusive environment, and alert program staff or on-site counselors when serious concerns arise.
This leadership role is grounded in empathy, kuleana, and pilina (relationship building), and seeks individuals who are honest, compassionate, and committed to growth. ʻŌpio Alakaʻi work within the educational framework and values of the Hāloa Program to uplift younger haumāna while deepening their own character and cultural understanding.
