  • Membership Collaboration Māla Day

    Come join us for our last māla day of the season! We invite all KALO members to kōkua us in putting our māla kalo to sleep for the winter season. We will be harvesting, cutting, mulching, and tarping the garden.

    After the māla day, we will head over to the ARCC to survey members to collect data to better serve our community who tend and volunteer at our māla days. We will have lunch and talk story about our program!

  • Māla Manaʻo Talk Story

    With holiday gatherings fast approaching, help us provide for our community by dropping off non-perishable food donations to the ARCC’s food pantry!

    We are looking for…
    - Canned goods (e.g. soup, SPAM)
    - Microwavables (e.g. instant rice, mac n cheese)
    - Cooking basics (e.g. sugar, oil, pasta)
    - Snacks (e.g. granola bars, trail mix)

  • Fall ʻUkulele Lessons

    November 13th
    Beginner Class: 6:00-7:00PM
    Advanced Class: 7:00-8:00PM

    We’re excited to offer two ʻUkulele classes this Fall—Beginner and Advanced! Space is limited to 10 participants per class, and spots will be confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis. Please complete the registration below to reserve your place; a confirmation email with details will follow. Lessons will be led by Uncle Francis Doo, a self-taught musician who began playing at age 10 in Kailua, Oʻahu. Now based in Oregon, Uncle Francis brings a deep love of music, tradition, and fun to every class.

    **The beginner class is currently FULL, but we are taking a waitlist!

    **The advanced class has 7 spots left!

  • Keiki Story Time with Anakē Jolie

    Join us for a fun and engaging Storytelling session led by ARCC Support Staff, Jolie Jessie. With over 10 years of experience working with preschoolers (ages 2–5) and middle school students (ages 10–14), and as a parent of two keiki herself, Jolie brings warmth, knowledge, and creativity to every story she shares.

    Together, we’ll read 3–5 age-appropriate books, followed by activities that connect to the stories. Parents and guardians are welcome to stay and join in the fun—or drop off their keiki and pick them up at the end of the session.

  • KALO Lumpia Workshop

    Lumpia is a Filipino food, kalo is Hawai'ian staple food, together they might become your favorite snack! Aunty Anchila brought her kalo lumpia to a mala work day potluck last month and wowed us with this savory treat. Join us in a kalo lumpia workshop led by the bright and effervescent Anchila! Participants will leave with a recipe kit that includes key ingredients and a printed copy of the recipe! Wanna join us? Sign up!

  • Hula Workshop with Kumu Hula Shelsea Aʻi

    Join us this December in Oregon for a special hula workshop led by Kumu Hula Shelsea Aʻi of Hālau Lilia Makanoe. Kumu Shelsea is a dedicated cultural practitioner who has trained under esteemed kumu hula, Howard and Olana Aʻi, and carries a deep commitment to preserving and sharing the traditions of hula and Hawaiian culture.

    This workshop offers dancers and community members an opportunity to learn directly from Kumu Shelsea, experiencing the art of hula as a living expression of story, history, and aloha. Whether you are new to hula or an experienced haumāna, this workshop will nurture your connection to Hawaiian culture and provide insight into the discipline, beauty, and meaning of the practice.

    Come and be inspired, deepen your learning, and celebrate hula here in Oregon.

    With Mākeke Kalikimaka, we welcome ALL vendors, but supporting Pacific Islander-owned businesses is at the forefront of this program– with the aim to create a space that amplifies their expertise, values, and all that they have to offer. Through this initiative, we hope to reignite interest and support for Pacific Islander businesses, ensuring their presence is not only recognized but CELEBRATED on the continent and within our communities.
